My First Three Months at Evolution Data Centres

My First Three Months at Evolution Data Centres

Why did you choose to work for Evo?

“When considering a new job, I believe that it’s essential to align your values and goals with those of the organisation. What drew me to Evo was a strong sense of trust in the team, a clear and impactful purpose and a leadership team that could genuinely make a positive difference in the world. These were key factors in my decision to join Evo.

The purpose of Evo resonated with me. The organisation’s dedication to making environmentally responsible choices in the construction and operation of data centres heavily influenced my decision to join the team.

In addition, Evo’s wealth of expertise in the Southeast Asia data centre market was a compelling factor. Knowing that I would be working alongside subject matter experts who are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the industry was an exciting prospect”

What are your reflections on the first three months?

“Trust is the cornerstone of any successful team and from the moment I joined Evo, I felt that it was embedded in the organisation’s culture. The team’s commitment to open communication, collaboration and a shared sense of purpose creates a great environment.

My initial months have been a period of immersion and discovery. It’s clear that Evo has already put significant effort into the financing and planning of new facilities in the Philippines and Thailand. The groundwork laid in these locations in the areas of sustainable design and construction is very impressive.

One of the reoccurring themes during my first three months is our commitment to sustainability. Sustainability is not just a buzzword at Evo; it’s a guiding principle that influences every decision we make. Ensuring that a sustainability lens is brought to every design choice is not just a goal; it’s a commitment that defines our approach to the industry”

What It’s like to work at Evo?

“Evo’s company culture is one of the standout aspects of my time so far. The organisation is a small, tight-knit team where every member is valued. This fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that is both motivating and empowering. Working alongside individuals who are passionate about what they do and are experts in their fields is inspiring and makes each day a learning experience”

What are your priorities for the next six months?

“My priorities for the next six months are to bring the Philippines and Thailand projects to the construction phase, with strong contracting throughout our value chain. This needs diligent planning, coordination and execution of these projects to ensure that our partners meet Evo’s high sustainability standards.

Additionally, I aim to drive the scale of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) procurement across the portfolio. Expanding our capabilities in this area will contribute to Evo’s mission of delivering state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible data centres.”

What’s your perspective on the regional data centre market?

“The Southeast Asia data centre market is undergoing a significant transformation. In developed markets, there is booming construction driven by the ever-growing demand for data processing and storage. However, in less mature markets, the growth is dependent on demand from Hyperscalers. The region has immense potential and Evo is well-positioned to play a pivotal role.”

Tell us a bit about your perspective on sustainability

In an era where the world’s appetite for computing and storage is insatiable, it is essential to address this need with the minimum environmental impact. To make a meaningful progress, we must earn the right to do it instead of other less efficient operators. Our goal is to achieve 100% renewable energy sources and minimize water usage, either from day one or in a short time frame.”

What do you do outside work?

“When I’m not engrossed in the world of data centres, I have a few pastimes. Reading is a source of enjoyment for me, and my interests range from history to political philosophy and even a good dose of humour. It’s a way for me to unwind and expand my horizons simultaneously.”

“Listening to music is another passion that helps me relax. Whether it’s classical, rock, or jazz, music has the ability to chill me out and enhance social connections. Additionally, I enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts through podcasts while walking my dogs and exercising. It’s a productive way to make the most of my downtime. Lastly, spending quality time with my family and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes is something I enjoy. These moments provide balance and rejuvenation during a fast-paced professional life.”

Do you have any final thoughts?

“The first three months at Evo have been filled with excitement, learning, and a great sense of purpose. The organisation’s commitment to sustainability, the incredible team, and the challenging projects on the horizon make this journey very rewarding. As we move forward, I’m eager to contribute to Evo’s mission and help shape the future of the Southeast Asia data centre market.”
